Help Protect Their Legal Status Now!
Since the start of the war in Ukraine, thousands of Ukrainians have arrived in the United States legally through the Uniting for Ukraine humanitarian program in search of safety. Americans across the country opened their homes, churches, and communities to help.
Now many of these Ukrainian families are working, raising their children, and contributing to the communities that welcomed them. But today, many face a new challenge. Work permits are expiring. Extensions of legal status are delayed. Families who came here lawfully are being left in limbo, with no clear timeline, no legal pathway forward, and no reliable protections. Without timely solutions, many could lose their jobs, lose their stability, and face the risk of ICE detention.
Voice4UA was founded by Susan Montoya to advocate for Ukrainians who came to the United States lawfully through humanitarian programs established after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
It is an American led initiative bringing together Americans and Ukrainians, including community leaders, volunteers, non-profits, faith communities, and professional advocates working together to advance real solutions in Washington.
The mission is clear: prevent gaps in legal status and work authorization now and secure a lawful path to permanent residency over time.
On February 13, 2026, we officially began working with the professional lobbying team Tommy Marquez Consulting.
In early March, our team traveled to Washington, D.C. and held more than 17 meetings with Congressional offices, Senate offices, and key government stakeholders, including:
Our outreach is gaining traction. The urgency of this issue resonates with decision makers, support is building, serious discussions are underway, and momentum continues to grow around real solutions.
Advocacy at this level requires more than public support. It requires people who understand how policy moves, how to navigate federal agencies, and how to engage directly with decision makers.
That is why Voice4UA is partnering with Tommy Marquez Consulting. The team includes former senior Congressional staff with more than 25 years of combined experience in Congress and lobbying. They bring access to decision makers, trusted relationships, institutional knowledge, and the strategic ability to move urgent issues forward. They work across federal agencies to build coalitions, navigate process, and help move issues into action.
During our meetings in Washington, we discussed both the Ukrainian Adjustment Act, H.R. 3104, and the Protect Our Guests Act, H.R. 2118. Both bills currently appear to have a very small chance of passing and serious gaps for Ukrainians, and even if legislation were enacted, implementation could take at least a year.
For families whose work permits and legal status are already expiring, delays carry real consequences.
More information about these bills, including where they stand and their projected chances of passing, is available on GovTrack.
Our focus is on faster solutions that can protect legal status now while also supporting a lawful path to permanent residency over time.
Voice4UA is pursuing two outcomes for Ukrainian families in the United States:
We are working to secure extended legal status and uninterrupted work authorization for Ukrainians who are already here lawfully, so families do not lose their jobs, fall out of status, or face the risk of ICE detention.
We are also advocating for lawful solutions that can lead to permanent residency (green card) and lasting legal security for Ukrainian families in the United States.
We are raising $100,000 to fund six months of focused advocacy work.
Reaching this goal is essential to sustaining direct engagement in Washington and keeping this effort moving at a critical time.
Over the next six months, this support will allow us to:
Voice4UA is a volunteer led initiative, with fundraising conducted through our nonprofit partner, Help Is On The Way Dear, a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations support the professional lobbying services engaged to advance real solutions for Ukrainian families.
We believe donors deserve clear, honest communication. That is why we provide regular updates so supporters can see how contributions are being used, what progress is being made, and how the work is moving forward.
We also share updates on our social media, and anyone with questions is welcome to reach out to us directly.
We have already built real momentum, and this work is underway. But sustaining direct advocacy in Washington requires your immediate support.
Every donation moves this work forward. Every share expands the reach of this effort.
Together, we can help protect stability, dignity, and legal status for thousands of Ukrainian families in the United States.
Respectfully,
The Voice4UA Team
